The Plaza — “The Heart of the Resort”
From the very beginning, the Main Plaza has been the social heart of La Quinta Resort & Club. Beneath lantern-lit arches, early guests gathered to share stories, laughter, and the scent of citrus drifting through the desert air. In the 1930s and ’40s, the plaza came alive with music and movement, where Hollywood icons mingled with artists and travelers arriving by train and horse-drawn carriage, long before desert roads were built.
Today, that same spirit remains. Framed by lush gardens, fountains, and Spanish-tile walkways, the plaza continues to bring people together. It’s a place to slow down, enjoy live music, and watch the sun dip behind the mountains—just as generations have done before.
During World War II, General George Patton’s officers stayed here while training in the desert. In those early years, guests journeyed by train to Indio before continuing on by carriage to the resort.
The Main Plaza remains one of the most photographed and beloved spaces at La Quinta Resort—a timeless setting where every moment circles back to connection.
