Welcome to the sweet, juicy celebration of watermelon season in the Coachella Valley!

From local produce stands to family-friendly festivals, the area transforms into a watermelon wonderland. Here’s how to celebrate watermelon season in the Valley:

Why Watermelon?

First things first, why watermelon?

This colorful fruit is local to the Coachella Valley, and it is not only a summer staple but also a nutritional powerhouse. Packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids, watermelon is a guilt-free snack that helps keep you hydrated.

Plus…it’s delicious!

Fresh Picks at Local Farms

The Coachella Valley is home to some of the best watermelon farms in California. Take a scenic drive through the valley, and you’ll find farm stands offering fresh-picked melons.

You can also check out Temalpakh Farm in Coachella, California, for organic shopping and seasonal farm tours. The Farm is open Monday through Saturday and offers sustainably grown, local produce and incredible smoothies.

The CA Watermelon Festival

The world-famous CA Watermelon Festival, which has been popular since the 1960s, is just two hours away in Lakeview Terrace.

Past interests have included the “Watermelon Ski,” live art demonstrations, watermelon dishes crafted by local vendors, and, of course, tons of watermelon-themed art.

However, the tradition of serving free, bottomless watermelon will always be the main draw of the Festival!

Sweet Treats

One of the best parts about watermelon season is getting creative in the kitchen. Keep your eyes peeled for these treats:
